I wrote this for you seven years ago and could barely get through reading it to people who had gathered to share memories of you but this morning I re-read this and I had a big smile on my face remembering how much you were loved.
Seven years seems like just yesterday...live on sweetheart!
To our dear Toyenyen,
To our dear Ty,
To our dear sister,
Losing you is a painful gain,
Knowing that you have gone to rest
But yet still missing you here.
We would never forget your smiles,
Your switching of parts when it comes to your laughter.
The way you cared for every single person around you.
Even when you pretended to be angry or you really were,
We knew it was still the love you had in your heart flowing
we will not forget the way you used to harass your dad in a loving manner
And when something wonderful happens, we can still hear you say,
"See oh! My mum will roll on the floor now".
The way you used to call bro Seyi, "Shoyi"
The way you used to say sis Tomi is the bold one in the family.
The way you and Damilola were always laughing about one thing or the other.
Coming down to your friends,
The manner in which you used to harass each and everyone of us.
The way you will scold me when I complain about any part of my body saying,
"You better let that part be funky"
The way you and Chineze enjoyed your mother-daughter relationship.
The way you used to call Oyekemi to order and also harass her.
The way you and Tope used to attack each other.
We will never forget how blunt you were,
Never afraid to correct if someone stepped out of order.
We never forget your love for music.
Your smile, dances and so on.
We will ever feel the impact you had on CU choir.
In your own little way, you touched everyone's life you came in contact with.
We will always miss you.
Though painful but we know you have gone to rest.
Sleep well our baby, sister and friend.
Loads of love,
Uhunoma [T.A]
