Growing up as ladies,
we always had our own ideas about how our young men should look like and
behave. As years went by, we realised some of the things we had listed were
just not realistic so we dropped some ideas and reshaped our dreams. Over and
over, as life experiences hit and taught us, our 'picture perfect' became
clearer and more refined.
Over the years, my 'picture
perfect' has been shaped by several acquaintances and friends; some of these
experiences were good, some of the experiences were ok while some of these
experiences I wish I never had. Every time I came to a climax in each
relationship, I made it a point of duty to make notes in my journal - things I
would like to keep in every relationship and things I would definitely stay
away from.
In recent times, I have
been on a few dates and each one left me with something to tell a story about:
1) Epileptic dude
A few months back, I
went out with this guy. We had been chatting and talking for some months so we decided
to hang out. He asked where my house was and after I told him, he concluded
that he could not find his way to my place. I decided to be gracious hence,
telling him not to worry that I would meet him at a known location. I was
really excited about going out. You should have seen me, all dressed up!
Removing tags from my clothing, taking time to do my makeup and my hair. I had
really high expectation because I had been conversing with this young man for
months and he seemed really right. In my mind, I was going to have the time of
my life. I set out for the location in a cab and arrived at the location about
forty minutes before him. I decided to do some other business before he
arrived. He arrived in the middle of my business transaction and after I
concluded, we both went ahead to do some other things I needed to do. When I
was done; as a babe 'nau' I was waiting for my guy to tell me where we were
headed from the location and what we were going to do. He asked if I wanted to
have something to eat first before we proceeded with other things. In my mind I
was saying, 'So guy surprise me! What is the game plan?' Instead I said in a
very sweet voice, ' So where are we going and what are we doing?'. This young
man told me we didn't have to go anywhere since there was a movie theatre in
the location so we should do movies. I said ok *no longer too excited*. Time
for where to eat; I was still very expectant and then my guy stands between KFC
and Chicken Republic and asks me to choose one. Sigh! Not the planner I thought
I had. I decided to go into Chicken Republic since I had not had that in a
while. Conversations that used to flow via BBM and phone calls were not forth
coming at this venue and the food at that particular branch was crap! I was
just being polite so I managed to push down a few mouth full. Shortly before the
movie started, he had to work a bit so we headed to his car and he spent a some
minutes working until we missed the initial part of the movie *cannot even
remember the movie we saw*. After the movie, we headed for KFC to buy some
snacks for my baby sister and then we stayed in his car for some time in the
parking lot. Let me guess what you are thinking; we were having some romantic
moments. NAh! He was working again. When he worked to a certain point, he
turned to ask me how I was getting home. My mind went '?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Did he
just ask me that question?!!?!?!??!!' instead I voiced 'YOU are taking me home
of course!'. We headed for my place. On arrival, I was teasing that he should
come down to meet my baby sister and then he says no o! Understandable! What I
did not quite understand was the fact that he left his engine running while I
was trying to get down and I was the one who initiated a hug which when I think
about it, I must have hugged myself. I thanked him for the day *in my usual
custom*. After that date, I had a better understanding of who he is. You
probably are thinking I should have closed the curtains after this date. Nope!
I kept communicating but guess what? This guy gave the drama of an epileptic
version of communication. He thinks it is okay to communicate whenever he
chooses and I picked no quarrel with him. All I did was leave him on my long
list of acquaintances.
