3) Deep dude
After the incidence with the player came this young man I had been
friends with since days of pampers-wearing *winks*. We had lost touch with
having long meaningful conversations. Our conversations had reduced to once in
a while Hello's and Hi's. Since neither of us knew how much the other person
had changed; we never really made any effort to say further than the Hello's and
Hi's we were already saying. But one faithful day, he asked if we could do
lunch after service on Sunday. I was like 'okkkkkkk'
not too sure of what the outcome would be like. He came to pick me up *yipee*;
that was a lot different from the other experiences I had been having. As I
rode along in the car with him, I really did not have anything to say since we
had not talked in years. We danced around general topics having many intervals
of silence when I was pinging away. The initial planned location was somewhere
on the Island with food and a live band but plans got changed due to our late
departure from my house so we opted for a closer location with food and a live
band too. To our dismay, the buffet for lunch was over before we got there
which also meant no live band *sad face*. We left the location a bit sad but
quickly thought of another close location with no live band (it was a Chinese
restaurant unless we wanted to listen to some Chinese music.. lol). Menu
booklets were brought; I hate looking at those things so I decided I would
trust his judgement and let him make the order. While waiting for the food, our
conversations started with memories from childhood...lol, some were so funny *still
laughing at the memories*. Before we knew it, we were doing a lot of catching
up. It was then I realised how much the young man had grown *silent admiration*.
He was such a gentleman. From that location, I was taken to an exotic location
for dessert - really nice, cosy and refreshing. It was a relief from the 'wonderful'
dates I had been having. On our way home, he confessed that he wanted to take
me to a place with a live band because he was not sure how our conversations
would turn out. Awww! Such a gentleman that he is. That week, our conversations
got better and we actually started chatting more regularly. The next Sunday, he
invited me for lunch again and it was like we were old friends that kept in
touch all these while; teasing back and forth, singing along with songs from
his phone and more chatting. The significance of the chatting was the bond that
was being established. Friendship was being built to last. With every passing
second I'm amazed by how much he has grown and his depth of wisdom and
understanding. He is who I call my 'deep dude'!
Have an awesome weekend and cherish the relationships that have value.
