5) Fairy tale prince
Isn't it funny how you might have known someone for so long and
still not really know the person unless you get close?! Well, this young man I
met some years back but most of the conversations we had were surface-based. We
talked about trendy things and technology but never really talked about
ourselves. He tried to get closer but I shoved it off. Years went by and we
kept on with the surface conversations. I used to tease a lot but it wasn't
anything that had to do particularly with him since I'm known to 'harass'
people I am comfortable with. Recently he called me and asked that we go out. I
was wondering where that was coming from. I was thinking, 'Abeg, let's keep this surface conversations and not complicate
matters'. I said 'let me think about
it' and a few days later I saw him and told him, 'Abeg let's leave this at calls and chats like we have been doing'.
He said ok as long as we kept communicating. Initially the increased level of
communication was quite uncomfortable and I was a bit reluctant to change from
the surface level of communication but allowed the conversations flow via chat.
I found out there was no need to fear. We continued chatting and I found out
that he was actually 'a case' - very hilarious. It was
the day before Valentine and then he says, 'Let
me take you out tomorrow' and I'm like no! He's like please let me take you
out and I said 'see the way you are even
asking, not appealing at all'. This young man lunches into different styles
of pleading and I end up agreeing to go out with so much laughter...lol. I told
this young man I want a fairy tale valentine with horses and a
carriage...lol...in Lagos o! He replied by saying he will see what is
available...lol...what a tease! Valentine's Day arrived and the young man had
called a cab company to come pick me up for 4pm to avoid the madness of traffic
that occurs regularly on Fridays; not to talk of a day like Valentine's. On my way
to the location, he called to ask me if I was comfortable with the substitute
of my carriage and I thought that was really sweet. He kept asking if everything
was to my taste...*wow*! He does care about tiny details. I prayed for a
thorough fare and I got to the location 1 minute before 5pm. The date was for
6pm; what was I going to do between the hours of 5pm and 6pm? I told him I
didn't want to be wandering around the location like a lost puppy so he decided
to call the cab guy to wait till when he got to me. At this point, I was
already having cold feet. The tripping thing about the arrangement was that he
asked the cab guy to keep the AC running for 'the princess' so she
won't get hot and this definitely must have cost him extra. I was like who does
that?! *batting my eyelashes*. When he
arrived, he asked me to wait in the car while he settled bills with the cab guy
and then came to open the door for me *can it get better?!*. We took a walk
into our date destination and decided to sit outside under the clear skies by
the water side. I was beginning to love every single moment. We started talking
from the cab and could not seem to stop. We only stopped when we made our
orders and between bites. He was such a sweetheart and very hilarious. I kept
laughing throughout the evening. We were seated where a live band came about an
hour after we started eating; guys with the violin playing songs in front of
couples. It was so romantic *blushing*. I forgot about my cold feet and all my
fears had been thrown into the lagoon. We left the location and went to another
location; I was so intrigued! We just flowed and he could crack jokes with
almost anything. So hilarious! The evening ended with sweet memories; memories
that sure seemed like I might have visited 'Disney' on that very night with loads
of reasons to smile: thanks fairy tale prince.
These are just a few of
my stories from numerous dates. You can see that every story has a bit of fairy
tale in it if you look out for all the characters: the good, bad and ugly. It
has been amazing sharing my fairy tale story. I will keep you posted *winks*.
Dream big! You never know when your dreams would come true. Have an amazing evening and thanks for joining me on this journey.
